HORSE RACE HANDICAPPING
Thoroughbred Horse Race Handicapping Presented by Sterling Publications

Hello Horseplayers!

Welcome to Sterling Publications, your source for thoroughbred horse race handicapping articles, tips and exclusive publications designed for the recreational horse player. Within these pages you will find informative articles to help you become a successful handicapper of thoroughbred racing along with descriptions of our publications that are designed to make casual and weekend horseplayers regular and consistent winners at the track or at off-track betting establishments.

If you have been betting on the ponies for any length of time you already know that making a profit at the track is difficult at best and is virtually impossible for the average race goer. Even horseplayers with a reasonably good fundamental knowledge of handicapping lose far more often than they win. Why is this? It is because the average horseplayer does not understand that success at the track can only be achieved by employing a SYSTEMATIC and CONSISTANT analysis of the ESSENTIAL past performance information for each horse. Many players allow themselves to fall prey to over-analysis of all of the dozens of handicapping factors that are displayed in the PP's resulting in a form of handicapping paralysis. In search of the "perfect" horse they often wind up betting the obvious "contenders" that invariably go off at short odds. They overlook the fact that the betting favorite loses 2 out of every 3 races and other short price horses do even worse.

The fact is that the best handicappers on the planet rarely pick the winner more than 40% of the time and most do no better than the average favorite win percentage of 33% or less. Despite all of the hype you will see in ads for books, calculators, systems and gimmicks the bottom line is there no way to make a consistent profit at the track if you keep picking and betting chalk horses. The problem is compounded these days by the fact that many bettors use computer programs to make their picks but these programs pick the same horses for all of their users even further depressing the mutual payoffs. Winning at the horses is possible but only when you have a method that spots horses that are overlooked and underbet not only by the racing public but also by these computer programs. Just recently the "super horse" War Path went off at 1 to 20 odds in the Tampa Bay Derby and ran dead last beaten 24 lengths so no matter how good you may think a horse is they can ALL be beaten.

Good handicapping can and will lead to good results but only if you have a method that selects legitimate contenders that gives you a shot at big mutual or exotic payoffs. After years of study we have developed such a method that is solidly supported by handicapping theory yet is surprisingly fast and easy to apply.

At Sterling Publications we have available to you not only the periodic tips and advice that you will see on this site but also access to our most recent publications regarding our proven methodology. We will also show you examples of actual races and the picks we not only made but bet on as well. Our goal to give you the tools necessary to become a consistent winner.
